OSUCCC Shared Resources

What are the Shared Resources?

OSUCCC Shared Resources are an essential component of the OSUCCC. These resources encompass a wide range of services and facilities that are made available to researchers, clinicians, and patients. They include cutting-edge technologies and expertise in various disciplines such as genomics, imaging, bioinformatics, and clinical trials coordination.

These shared resources foster collaboration and innovation by providing access to state-of-the-art equipment and specialized personnel, enabling researchers to conduct experiments and investigations that would be otherwise unfeasible.

Moreover, these resources play a crucial role in advancing personalized cancer care, as they facilitate the translation of research discoveries into clinical applications, ultimately improving the diagnosis and treatment of cancer for patients and contributing to the overall fight against this complex disease.

Requests for most OSUCCC Shared Resource services run through our online ordering system, eRAMP.  If you have any questions related to setting up an eRAMP account or using eRAMP, please contact erampadmins@osumc.edu

Biomedical Informatics

The Biomedical Informatics Shared Resource (BISR) analyzes high-throughput, high-dimensional biological data and other biomedical data and information using state-of-the-art informatics tools and high-quality informatics analysis for OSUCCC – James investigators.

Biospecimen Services

The broad mission of the Biospecimen Services Shared Resource (BSSR) is to support cutting-edge translational research to advance the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Biostatistics

The Biostatistics Shared Resource (BSR) enables OSUCCC – James researchers to collaborate on all aspects of experimental design; grant proposal development; data management and statistical analysis of clinical, epidemiological, public health and laboratory research data; and manuscript preparation.

Clinical Translational Science

The Clinical Translational Science Shared Resource (CTSSR) team works closely with clinical and translational scientists to develop a customizable portfolio of biomarker assays in order to provide innovative, correlative science studies associated with early-phase solid tumor oncology clinical trials.

Clinical Treatment Unit and the Clinical Trials Processing Laboratory

The Clinical Treatment Unit and the Clinical Trials Processing Laboratory Shared Resource (CTU/CTPLSR) enable OSUCCC – James investigators to conduct successful phase I and phase II clinical translational research in a methodologically sound, expedient and cost-effective manner.

Comparative and Translational Animal Models

The Comparative and Translational Animal Models (CTAMSR) designs and conducts clinical trials in companion animals with spontaneous diseases to evaluate novel diagnostics and therapeutics and collects biospecimens, such as tissue biopsies, serum, plasma and urine, in support of comparative cancer research.

Comparative Pathology and Digital Imaging

The Comparative Pathology and Digital Imaging Shared Resource (CPDISR) provides expert, affordable, experimental pathology support to OSUCCC – James researchers who use animal models to study human disease.

Drug Discovery

The Drug Discovery Shared Resource (DDSR) provides medicinal chemistry and high throughput screening to investigators at the OSUCCC – James and to other academic and commercial institutions. It integrates the expertise of multiple disciplines, including synthetic and process chemistry, instrumental analysis, and screening of libraries of small molecules against targets and phenotypes using automation and multiple detection modalities.

Flow Cytometry

The Flow Cytometry Shared Resource (FCSR) provides a quantitative analytical method that separates cells based on specific characteristics. It can also measure physical and chemical properties of cells and particles.

Gene Editing

The Gene Editing Shared Resource (GEdSR) is a centralized resource for OSUCCC and non-CCC members to develop, implement and use CRISPR-based approaches in a broad variety of primary and established cell lines, as well as other experimental models.

Genomics

The Genomics Shared Resource (GSR) provides a centralized, comprehensive resource of high-throughput genomics technologies to OSUCCC – James researchers and non-CCC members.

Hematology Tissue Bank

The Hematology Tissue Bank Shared Resource (HTBSR) helps scientists translate basic research to the clinical setting by providing central collection, processing and storage of tissue samples from patients with leukemia, myeloma or lymphoma enrolled on OSUCCC – James protocols.
