Volunteers
It is necessary to register all volunteers so that the CCC is tracking them, following OSU policies, and making sure they are receiving appropriate computer and building access. Volunteers can not be younger than 16 years old. If they are 16 or 17, they may volunteer in the lab, but the lab will need to follow the policies associated with working with minors (see below).
Volunteers are not matched, therefore, if a lab would like to have a volunteer it is their responsibility to connect with the volunteer and decide if they are a good fit. Once a volunteer is identified, the PI/Lab can forward the below application link to the students. The application will then be sent to CAMELOT (CCC’s education and training department) so that the administrative onboarding process can begin.

Minor Volunteers
Here are the steps needed for you and your staff to have a minor student in your lab:
- Completion of a medical center background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation - BCI). You are exempt if you have had a BCI within the past four years. If you are unsure if you have had a background check in the last 4 years, please email Margaret Robinson.
- If you have not had a BCI in the past four years, you need to go to the ID Processing Office: University Hospital, Doan Hall, Suite N147 idp-map.pdf (osu.edu) To make an appointment, please follow this link: https://osumc.sharepoint.com/sites/HumanResources/SitePages/ID%20Processing.aspx
- Completion of the Activities and Programs with Minor Participants online training. Go to BuckeyeLearn: https://buckeyelearn.osu.edu:
- Sign-In
- Search Minors in the search bar
- Click on “Activities and Programs with Minor Participants Policy Course”
- Click on “Request” and it will then let you start the short video course
- Sign and adhere to Standards of Behavior (This will come from DocuSign)
- Please let Margaret Robinson know who will be interacting with the minor volunteer so that they can receive the DocuSign.
