Please review the information below regarding the performance review process. (back to top)

  • Our performance management tool is Performance Pro, an online evaluation tool (https://webauth.service.ohio-state.edu/cgi-bin/hrperfsolutions.cgi). Training resources are available below.  Access to the system is driven by the reporting relationship; administrative assistants or lab managers may not be able to access reviews on behalf of the PI.
  • If you ask your staff to do a self-assessment, you will be asking them to complete the performance review on themselves. You will then complete your review and you will be able to see both the employee assessment and your assessment side by side.  Your assessment is the final assessment of employee performance.  You are not required to have your staff do a self-assessment.  The final review is typically due the first week of July; if you require a self-assessment you will need to set a separate due date with your employees for that to be completed.  Email reminders will be sent from the system based on the final review date.
  • You will have the option, throughout the year, to use this tool to exchange documented feedback with your employee and to also create notes that you can either keep for yourself or share with the employee. We strongly encourage you to use this tool to document issues with employee performance.
  • This online system should not replace face to face meetings regarding performance with your employees.
  • Performance reviews are not required for student employees, GRAs and fellows.
  • Spreadsheets will still be sent via email to collect merit increase information.  We will send these once we receive merit guidance from the University.
  • External staff hired on or after April 1 will not be eligible for an annual increase and does not need a performance review, however these new hires will need goals entered into the system.
